It’s true that abortion is a crime that often burdens its victims. If one such victim becomes pregnant, won’t the child be a burden?

Hi friend. I'm not sure I understand your question. It is the unborn child that is the victim. Women and men who have, encourage, or perform abortions are generally the aggressors, not the victims. Do you perhaps refer to rape or incest, where the mother is clearly not at fault? I think I didn't understandÂ…

Just to clarify, Mormons believe abortion is only acceptable when a doctor determines that the mother's health is in great danger, when the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, or when the baby is so malformed that he would not survive beyond birth. Even in these cases, however, abortion should not be automatic. The mother should consult with her church leaders and with God through prayer before making a final decision.

In most cases, abortion is a serious sin. It is true that children can be a burden to unprepared parents. In this case, parents should put their children up for adoption rather than killing them before birth. My wife and I are currently trying to adopt; it's frustrating to me to think that some people needlessly discard their children when others are so desperate to adopt them.
