Hi friend. The party you're describing is probably a local party, not a church-wide party. Mormons have social gatherings to enjoy each others' company, to strengthen each others' faith, and to have fun. Non-members are certainly welcome to come. It's a great opportunity to get to know your local Mormon community better. I hope you enjoy it!
