I would remember to respect his values. As the two comments have already said, we are counciled by our prophet to not date before the age of 16. I would recommend reading the section on dating in the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet. It would really help you know what is good, dating wise. Also, remember that the LDS youth value modesty in dress and appearance. I think that as long as you stay sensitive to his values, you should be allright. As for email, there has been no council that I can think of against it. In fact, most of our missionaries are set up with a email account, to increase the contact between home. So as long as he has a email account, you should be able to email him.

I believe the answers above are very helpful in your questions about dating. As they said, latter-day saint youth are counciled to not go on dates until they are sixteen and to be wise and virtuous. As far as the e-mail question goes, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints embraces technological advances as far as they can be used for good. Latter-day saints often use e-mail, chats, blogs, etc to stay in contact with friends and family and even to share our beliefs (like I'm doing right now!) Of course we are cautioned to use the internet wisely and stay away from explicit content. We like web filters :) we also, like all informed and loving people, try our best to keep our children from dangerous web activities. That said, our church uses the internet, and satellite broadcasting. There is even a channel on youtube for mormons. I hope you find this insightful.

Parents are counseled to wait until their children are 16 to go on "dates". This does not mean that young adults can't still have friends of the opposite sex and do things together, but it needs to be in a group setting, not a one on one "date". Lastly, they can only email if they have an email account ;)

We are told that we should start dating at the age of 16, but their parents also have a say in it. Some parents think it is fine to start dating younger and then their are parents that are really strict.
