Hi friend. For Mormons, the family is the most important aspect of life. Families play an important role not only in our culture, but also in our theology. We believe that once we die, we will progress in the next life not only as individuals, but also as families. Because Mormons place so much importance on family, many choose to have large families.

That having been said, the Church does not dictate family size. Married Mormon couples are free to use birth control in planning their families. The number of children a couple has is between the two of them and God.
