I’ve heard that there’s Biblical evidence for the Book of Mormon and the Angel Moroni. Can you tell me what the verses are? Thanks.

Hi friend. In fact, there's a lot of Biblical evidence for the Book of Mormon and the angel Moroni. Let me describe just a few examples:

1. The Book of Mormon mentions a man named Mulek, the son of the Biblical king Zedekiah. Most Bible students have traditionally believed that the sons of Zedekiah died. In Jeremiah 38:6, we read about Malchiah the son of Hammelech. Joseph Smith couldn't have known that "Hammelech" means "king" in Hebrew, and that the mentioned king was probably Zedekiah himself. Mulek is a name derived from Malchiah. Thus, unbeknownst to Joseph Smith, the Bible supports the idea that Zedekiah had a son named Mulek. This indicates that the Book of Mormon is in fact an ancient text, not something that Joseph Smith simply made up.

2. The Book of Mormon frequently cites the book of Isaiah, a book also found in the Bible. In many instances, the Book-of-Mormon text differs from the King-James text. One recent study discovered that in at least 59 examples, ancient texts support the Book-of-Mormon version of Isaiah, not the King-James version. This indicates that Joseph Smith had access to ancient texts when he translated the Book of Mormon.

3. The prophet Isaiah prophesized about the Book of Mormon in Isaiah 29. In verse 10 he speaks of the great apostasy: "For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered." He then describes the coming forth of a book given to an unlearned man in verses 11 and 12: "And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned." In verses 14 and 18, Isaiah describes the role this book has in the restoration of the true gospel: "Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid… And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness." This book is the Book of Mormon, and the unlearned man is Joseph Smith.

4. The prophet Ezekiel (Ezekiel 37:16,19) also prophesized about the Book of Mormon. He said that the writings of Judah (the Bible) would be joined to the writings of Joseph (the Book of Mormon, as Lehi was a descendent of Joseph). ¬¬

5. Jesus Himself described the people of the Book of Mormon. In John 10:16-17 Jesus says: "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." These "other sheep" are the peoples of the Book of Mormon. When Christ visited these peoples on the American continent (3 Nephi 11), they heard His voice, as He had promised.

6. The apostle John prophesized about an angel that would restore the true gospel in the last days (Revelation 14:6-7): "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." This angel is Moroni.

The person who answered the question first did a fantastic job. I would also like to bring it to your attention that in the doctrine and covenants, there is a section that refers to the civil war before it happened. D+c section 87. Joseph Smith died before the civil war, too. ♥♥♥
