What are Mormon religious services like? Sunday or Midweek? How would your Sacrament Meeting differ from, say, a Methodist or Baptist or Assembly of God or Lutheran or Anglican or Catholic or Orthodox Communion Service? Thank you and God bless.

What is it like to visit a chapel?
While this question is very old I thought I'd take a crack at it...

The core of LDS meetings take place on Sunday (the Sabbath). There is a 3-hour block of meetings, one hour set for each of the following meetings:

1) Sacrament meeting: A congregational meeting where the sacrament (communion) is taken and talks are given by church members to the entire church community.

2) Sunday School. Scripture study led by church members assigned to teach.

3) Priesthood OR Relief Society OR Young Men/Young Women OR Primary (kids): This meeting is where men, women and youth are divided up and meet in age specific and/or gender specific groups. Focus is often on topics that pertain to these individual groups (ie: men talk about how to be good fathers and husbands).

During the week there are meetings that support the youth (mutual) as well as activity groups like a church sponsored a Boy Scout Troop as well as fellowship/fun activities for specific groups or the entire family. These meetings happen once a week, once month or once a quarter. It varies.

I'm not sure how the LDS meetings would differ from a Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran, etc., meetings as I've never attended a meeting of any of those groups. I have however attended a Catholic mass as well as a Greek Orthodox congregational meeting. The LDS sacrament meeting is similar to Catholic mass in that the congregation sings the hymns and there is a similar communion/sacrament.

I hope this helps answer your question.
