As a teenager, there was another youth in the neighborhood (not a member) but he was just horrible! Literally the worst person you could ever meet and not a safe person to be around. He ended up in prison where he rightfully belongs–

Anyway, i was reading a book about psychopathic personality disorder, and recognize that this rotten person had all of the earmarks of psychopathy. Literally all of them.

This is an actual mental health issue. What is the position of the church on individuals who are “afflicted” with this disorder? I would be the first to say, it’s much harder on the people around them.

Hi Nathan. Thanks for your very interesting question. In the end, God will judge each person perfectly. We'll each be responsible for our own choices. Those with mental illness have a reduced ability to choose their actions. God will certainly take that into account when He passes judgement.

It's important to point out, too, that the vast majority of people with mental illness are not dangerous. Some mental illnesses can be very debilitating for those who suffer with them. We should show compassion for those who struggle with any kind of illness.
