Occasionally Mormons are featured in even secular commercials. I hope you enjoy these clips!

This Mr. Sub commercial implies that Mr. Sub sandwiches are so good that they can make even good people (Mormon missionaries) do terrible things (steal people’s food). Very funny!

In this commercial, a Mormon missionary uses a body spray to attract female converts. Even though Mormon missionaries should never date, this commercial is very funny!

Mormons recently played a role in passing a law to stop homosexual marriage in California. Some that favor same-sex marriage were upset, so they created a commercial that showed Mormon missionaries breaking into the house of two lesbians and stealing their marriage license. The commercial was widely regarded as bigoted and probably did far more damage to the gay-marriage cause than good.

In this commercial, a return missionary visits a bank to open an account so he can get married. When the teller congratulates him on his engagement, he says he’s not dating anyone right now but just wants to be prepared. Then he asks the teller out! This commercial is funny because it makes fun of return missionaries’ eagerness to get married.

This commercial is an advertisement for a Mormon board game. A young man takes his girlfriend to visit the temple, as if he’s going to propose to her. Then, instead of proposing, he asks her to play a board game with him. Cheesy beyond words.

This commercial is an advertisement for a company called Dear Elder, which helps families stay in touch with their missionary relatives. Two missionaries are excited to get letters, but only one receives anything, because only his family uses Dear Elder. Moderately funny, in my opinion.

Next is a church-produced commercial from the 1980s. I can’t believe how ridiculous this commercial is! What were we thinking? 🙂
