hello ! i am being encouraged to join the church by a missionary i met at my university. I have broken the law of chastity early in my life and on December 18th i will be baptized. will this take care of my sin? also i didnt know i want to become mormon until recently so that is why i am asking thank you (:

Mormons believe that disciples of Jesus should follow His example and be baptized by someone with authority from God.

Lots of people who aren't members of the church don't realize the importance of keeping the law of chastity. It's pretty common for people who join the church to have personal stories just like yours.
Thankfully, baptism is a purifying ordinance. When you go down into the water, you symbolically leave your sins there. And then when you come out of the water, you're symbolically reborn as a new disciple of Jesus.
I love this scripture from the book of Isaiah: "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool" (Isaiah 1:18).
