I’m a Canadian, was born in a Muslim family, I stopped practicing my religion a while ago but always believed in God, one day I stumbled upon an advertisement about the Book of Mormon and spent the whole night reading about the mormon church and checking the website, I had a great feeling of joy and happiness and became very Interested. My questions are:
How can someone who was born a Muslim join the church and get baptized?
Will there be any type of discrimination against me if I join the church because of my background? Someone once told me that being of Muslim background will put some limitations on me and my participation in the church, and will give me less rights than someone without a muslim background.

What is it like to visit one of our chapels?
Hi Ahmed. Thanks for your very interesting question. I'm happy to hear you're interested in learning more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love being a member of this church. I hope you also find peace in this religion.
It is possible for a Muslim to join our church. In fact, in searching for your question, I discovered that one of the people I follow on Facebook is a member of the church who used to be Muslim: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeah_Samake
There aren't different tiers of membership in our church. If you joined, you'd have all the same rights and responsibilities that any member of the church has. God loves all His children the same, regardless of their background.
From what I've read (and keep in mind this is anecdotal), there are some circumstances when the church has been reluctant to encourage Muslim conversions. I'm no expert in these matters, but apparently conversion is a capital offense in some Muslim-majority countries. Conversion can be dangerous for the potential convert in these cases. As much as we want to spread the joy of this gospel to all peoples, such a circumstance warrants extreme caution, obviously.
But it's hard to imagine you would run into any problems like that in Vancouver, and you haven't been a practicing Muslim for some time anyway. So I doubt these kinds of concerns would apply in your case.
I suggest that you chat with our missionaries to learn more about our beliefs. There are over 70,000 missionaries in the world who visit people in their homes to teach them more about Jesus Christ. Most people who are interested in our faith learn about our basic beliefs from these missionaries. You can request a missionary visit online.
You can also learn the address of the chapel nearest your house online. Please don't hesitate to visit us any Sunday morning (usually 9:00) to see how we worship. Members of our church love visitors. Just let people know you're visiting for the first time so they can help you.
