Hi friend. Leaving the church can have serious spiritual consequences. If you want good things in life, you have to invest a lot of personal effort. That's true of spiritual things too. Spirituality doesn't necessarily come passively. It has to be actively cultivated, and the church is an ideal place to do just that.
That having been said, the vast majority of people who have left the church have not committed the "unpardonable sin." They've made a serious mistake, and we active members of the church should try to help them come back by loving and supporting them. Many people who stop going to church eventually return and pick up right where they left off. It's beautiful when that happens.
You may be interested in reading the section called "The unpardonable sin is to willfully deny and defy the Holy Ghost after having received His witness" found here. It explains very well what the unpardonable sin is.
