I have a serious problem. I’m a member of the church, but I’m not a virgin. I’ve never confessed my sin to my bishop, and I want to know what will happen when I do. Will I need to leave the young single adults program and join the Relief Society? Will I never be able to marry a man in the church because I’m unworthy? Please help me.
A life of sin can be cleansed and changed through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Hi Diana. Thanks for your question. It's important that you confess your sins to the bishop. He'll help you apply Christ's atonement in your life so you can recover spiritually. The specific requirements of your repentance will depend on your personal circumstances and needs, as well as the revelation that the bishop will receive from our Heavenly Father on your behalf.
Young women become members of the Relief Society when they turn 18. It has nothing to do with sin or repentance.
You can still marry a member of the church in the temple one day, but you need to repent fully and sincerely. I know it's possible through Jesus Christ. God bless you, sister.

Chastity: What are the limits?
Circumstances vary in situations like this, and therefore the consequences of our actions vary, too. The only way to make it right is to talk to your Bishop. He is the one that holds the keys of knowledge as to what would be appropriate in your particular situation. For example, if you are a convert and were sexually active before baptism, but not after, it is one thing. If you are not married and currently having sexual relations, it is another. Only your Bishop can help you determine what is the right thing to do to.
YSA is based on age - 18 to 30 - and marriage status (single). Relief Society is for all women who are 18 and older (or who are younger than 18 but are mothers) so you should be in RS already! The two organizations are not related to each other.
